“The Council has called for an emergency meeting, we have to report to the temple, right now”. Mind said breathlessly and flopped down in the small bench by the wall. When the general administrator had send messenger to Mind’s apartment, early at dawn, he knew there was something important or something seriously bad that was waiting for him and Heart. Mind had gone to Heart’s apartment but he wasn’t there. So he came to the practice arena to find Heart sweating his aggression out in a sword fight with a trainer. Heart kept on moving his blade as if he didn’t hear it. Heart loved keeping his skills shining, but more than that it kept him busy when he had too much time to spare and didn’t want to spend it thinking. Last few days he hadn’t been himself, or may be more of himself than he has ever been. It wasn’t a change like becoming a new person. It felt more like falling back to oneself. Being what he always was but more profound and pure, no adulteration of pretenses anymore, not with his own self atleast. He felt like, for the first time, he allowed himself to relax, which was ironical since he had been extremely restless. Calmness of mind and swiftness of body were a warrior’s shield and sword. But since he had returned from Dream his brain had antagonized calmness. Sleep eluded him, the noise of thoughts inside his head were too loud. Doing something which demanded both his physical and mental focus made him feel more at ease. It relieved him, for the time being, from enduring that painful eerie tug at his core that he had been feeling since the first time he saw Soul. Probably the wise Council was right. She was indeed an enchantress.
“I think I forgot to mention that by ‘right now’ I meant this instant, like exactly this moment.” Mind said impatiently.
Heart paused and nodded to his trainer who bowed and left both of them alone in the arena.
Heart took off his face-guard and looked at Mind “What is it about?”
“I don’t know”
“I have heard that before”
“I don’t know! The messenger said only that the Chief wants to meet us. We have to be at the temple before the Council for an emergency discussion.”
“’Discussion’. That doesn’t sound good. What could it be?” Heart said while taking off his fighting gears.
“Well, we are called, that means something must be really really wrong”
